Visions and Values
Vision: “A pupil’s learning journey at Ickworth Park will challenge them to achieve their personal best and inspire ambition and confidence. The environment will be engaging, ensuring inclusivity and respect for all.
Ethos: “At the heart of Ickworth Park Primary School lies a commitment to fostering an enriching and inclusive learning environment where every child is valued and recognised for their unique potential. Underpinning all our values is a deep-rooted respect for the individuality of each child. This begins with respect for oneself and extends to peers, the wider community and the environment. We foster an atmosphere of mutual respect, empathy and understanding, ensuring our school is a safe, supportive and nurturing space for all. Challenging each pupil to stretch their intellectual, physical, and creative capacities is a core value within our ethos, providing support for all and encouraging growth at every level. We know that with challenge comes the need for resilience; hence, we support our pupils as they navigate obstacles, learn from setbacks and grow stronger in their character. Confidence is a crucial objective of our ethos as we strive to instil selfbelief in our pupils, empowering them to trust their abilities and engage actively in their learning journey. We believe that a confident child is better equipped to face new challenges with ambition, contribute positively to our community and transition successfully to further stages of education.
Values:
● Respect
● Challenge
● Resilience
● Confidence
These four core values encapsulate our Vision and Ethos at Ickworth Park, guiding a child’s growth and development throughout their primary school education journey. First and foremost, children learn the value of “Respect” by respecting and valuing themselves, their teachers, others and their environment. This enriches their learning experience and creates a supportive community.
Everyone in our school community, including governors, staff, parents and children, demonstrates respect through personal presentation, active listening and behaviour. Building upon this foundation of respect, we frequently present children with a “Challenge” that introduces them to new concepts and tasks, stretching their understanding and skills. As they engage with these challenges, they must harness “Resilience” to navigate difficulties and setbacks, learning to persevere and adapt.
Through this process, they develop “Confidence” in their capabilities and recognise their growth and potential. This sequence of Values captures the developmental arc of a pupil’s journey at our school. It reflects the intent and expectations of the consistent interplay of the Vision and Ethos throughout the curriculum and school life at Ickworth Park Primary School.
